Social Work Support

School social workers are trained mental health professionals with a graduate degree in social work. School social workers serve as a link between the home, school, and community.  They provide direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success.

Great Valley has social workers at the elementary, middle and high school level. Our social workers collaborate with counselors, teachers and administrators to identify students who are struggling as indicated attendance issues, emotional difficulties, behavioral difficulties, or family circumstances. Social workers see students individually and partner with families to connect them with supports or services within the school or community.  They also coordinate services that students are receiving through outside professionals or agencies.
